Job Title: Senior Accountant
Work Location: Mysore/Bangalore/Remote
As a Senior Accountant at Unilog you will play a critical role in managing financial operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting for the USA entities. You will work closely with the finance team to support various accounting functions, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. This position reports to the Director of Accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closings.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
General Ledger Management:
- Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Record journal entries and adjustments as necessary.
Revenue Recognition:
- Collaborate with the sales and customer success teams to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606).
- Monitor deferred revenue and recognize revenue as services are delivered
Expense Management:
- Manage and analyze company expenses, including cost allocation and expense tracking.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Monitor and control expenses to align with the budget.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Prepare and submit required tax filings, including sales tax and income tax.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.
Audit Support:
- Support annual financial audits by providing documentation and explanations to auditors.
- Implement audit recommendations and best practices to strengthen internal controls.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
- Participate in system implementations and upgrades related to accounting software.
Compliance and Regulation:
- Stay up-to-date with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP), regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
- Ensure the company’s financial activities adhere to all relevant regulations and standards.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, sales, and operations, to achieve financial goals and objectives.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the SAAS industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with NetSuite and financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) is a plus.
