As a distributor of products that protect workers from potential health and safety hazards, Mallory Safety & Supply recently safeguarded their own relevancy and future success by creating a new online buying experience that goes beyond any other safety product website. The personal protective equipment (PPE) supplier partnered with Affiliated Distributors (AD) and Unilog, who built a comprehensive eCommerce solution for them, complete with an advanced shopping cart, customer portal, easy search, navigation and filtering tools, and rich product content.
To further distinguish themselves from the competition, Mallory also added a cool feature to their site that allows customers to personalize safety products with their company logo. This custom print offering was integrated into the new Mallory eCommerce site with the help of Custom Safety Products and their CSP Plus™ configuration software. Unilog established connectivity with CSP’s platform, allowing customers to choose personal protective equipment (PPE) on Mallory’s website, add and preview their company logo on those items via CSP’s portal, and then complete their transaction on the distributor’s site. Here’s how it works:
A Mallory customer chooses a PPE product from their online product catalog and hits the “Customize It” button.
A Logo Customization window opens and allows the customer to upload and apply their logo to the product. For example, with this safety vest, the customer has the option of adding the logo to the front, back, or both sides of the vest.
The Product Options box lets the customer choose the different sizes, colors, and quantities they’d like to order of the personalized product.
Once all the quantities are determined, the subtotal and personalized printing costs are itemized for the customer.
Before adding the items to the cart, the CSP software has the customer perform a final review and approve their design. The individual ordering the design can choose to approve the proof themselves, or send the proof to another approver, such as a supervisor.
Once the approval process is complete, the approved items are available to add to the customer’s shopping cart on the Mallory site.
Ron Thompson, Implementation Project Manager at Unilog, says this custom logo printing feature gives customers an easier way to purchase and customize safety products, and allows Mallory to provide more value-added services. “Connecting the CSP software with our eCommerce solution eliminates the need for multiple e-mails and form requests that are usually required for custom print items,” explains Thompson. “With a more streamlined workflow process, Mallory can deliver on customer expectations more quickly and easily.”
